Celtic, who are eight points behind Hearts in the league, are considering their options after placing O'Neill in temporary charge, with a Manchester United legend 'offering himself' to the club if Roy Keane takes the job.
According to the Telegraph, Ange Postecoglou, who was relieved of his duties at Nottingham Forest earlier this month, and Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna are on the shortlist to succeed Rodgers.
The report also claims Robbie Keane is on their radar, too.

Keane enjoyed a legendary spell in the Premier League, playing for Coventry City, Leeds United, Tottenham, Liverpool, West Ham United and Aston Villa.
He also had a loan spell at Celtic, where he scored an impressive 16 goals in 19 games across all competitions in the 2009/10 season.
Keane called time on his playing career following a brief stint in India before turning his hand to management.

He's currently in charge of Hungarian club Ferencvaros, having taken charge in January.
Keane, 45, fits the bill as a young, exciting manager, having shone in his budding managerial career and would be interested in talking to Celtic if an approach is made.

O’Neill, who hasn't had a job in management since 2019, will take charge of Celtic's home league fixture against Falkirk on Wednesday.

He fielded questions ahead of his return to the dugout and revealed how he landed the job.
"I knew about it less than 24 hours ago," he said on being asked to step in and then having '10 minutes to make up my mind' about taking over as he walked down the King’s Road in London.
The 73-year-old added: "They are looking for a permanent manager. The events of the past 24 hours are quite stunning. I’ve been called in to do the job of interim manager and that’s the way it will be."
Asked whether he might stay, he replied: "That’s never been discussed. I would say no, I think I’ll just go into the sunset. That’s not been discussed and I wouldn’t imagine it [happening]."
