After Brooklyn Beckham made it clear that he does not want to "reconcile" with his parents, David and Victoria, here’s what else we know about the alleged ongoing family feud.

Twenty-six-year-old Brooklyn is the oldest of the four Beckham children – Romeo, Cruz, and Harper – and was born back in 1999 when his father David was still playing for Manchester United and his mother Victoria was a member of the Spice Girls.

The Beckham family have always been a close bunch and regularly attended public events alongside each other.

However, in recent years, Brooklyn’s relationship with his family has taken a negative turn, and he has not been photographed with the rest of the Beckhams since December 2024.

Despite the supposed ‘feud’ appearing to start over the past year or so, some sources have suggested that the catalyst for the situation came in 2022.

SPORTbible looked at the sequence of events that have led to this point.

Wedding dress 'disagreement'

Having started dating in early 2020, Brooklyn married his now-wife, American actress Nicola Peltz, at a ceremony hosted on Peltz’s family estate in Palm Beach in April 2022.

Guests included celebrity chef and Beckham family friend Gordon Ramsey as well as tennis icon Serena Williams.

Nicola wore a custom Valentino wedding gown against the wishes of her mother-in-law, Victoria, who allegedly planned for the actress to wear a dress designed by her.

A source told PEOPLE that Nicola previously said wearing a dress designed by her husband’s mother would ‘be her honour’ and that she’d ‘love to wear one of her originals’.

But a source told the outlet: “Nicola was painted as a brat for not wearing Victoria Beckham at the wedding. She'd gone to a ton of Victoria Beckham fashion shows and events in Victoria's clothing. She even wore Victoria Beckham to her Lola movie premiere."

It must be noted that there are several contrary reports.

David Beckham’s 50th birthday snub

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United man celebrated his 50th birthday back in May and, as expected, hosted a lavish party in Florida with guests ranging from former teammate Gary Neville to actor Guy Ritchie.

Photographs from the occasion showed three out of the four Beckham children in attendance alongside their respective partners, although Brooklyn was nowhere to be seen.

As reported by the Mirror, a source said that David was reportedly “upset” and “hurt” by his eldest son’s absence.

Wedding renewal ceremony

In August of 2025, Nicola and Brooklyn renewed their wedding vows at a ceremony in New York, but according to the Standard, the latter’s parents did not attend nor were they mentioned in the 26-year-old’s speech, despite him mentioning his in-laws.

Around 200 guests attended, but the outlet reported that Brooklyn’s wider family, grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, only learned of the ceremony after it was reported by the media.

Reports suggested that the rest of the Beckham household were on holiday in Saint Tropez.

Cryptic Christmas

Instead of spending time with the Beckhams at their Cotswolds home, the 26-year-old chose to spend Christmas with his wife’s family and was pictured alongside Nicola’s parents, Claudia Heffner and billionaire Nelson, who enjoyed the festivities in the US.

Meanwhile, some suggested that Victoria aimed a subtle dig at her daughter-in-law by posting a video of her and David dancing along to Barbara Streisand and Barry Gibb's fiery 1980 duet, Guilty.

The lyrics of the song include: "We've got nothing to be sorry for.”

Subsequent Instagram activity, including snaps of Cruz and Romeo with their arms wrapped around David, caused further speculation that Victoria’s social media posts were in some way cryptic digs at her estranged son and his wife.

Lawyer involvement

A report from the Mail in January of 2026 claimed that “there was an exchange of legal letters” between Brooklyn and his parents via their legal teams, Schillings and Harbottle & Lewis, in relation to the 26-year-old not wanting to have any direct contact with his parents that wasn’t through his legal team.

He also reportedly does not want to be the subject of any public statements posted by the Beckham family.

However, there was no legal action between the respective lawyers or a basis for it.

Damning public statement

Following the long-running speculation about Brooklyn's strained relationship with his parents, the 26-year-old finally addressed the matter in a rather explosive statement on January 19.

Brooklyn made clear that he does not want to reconcile with his parents and claimed that he is “standing up for himself” while hinting that he was “controlled” for most of his life.

The 26-year-old then suggested that his parents had “endlessly” been trying to ruin his relationship with Peltz ahead of their 2022 wedding.

"I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed," Brooklyn said.

"I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.

"For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events, and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.

"Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out."

He then gave his side of the story about the alleged wedding dress feud and claimed that Victoria “cancelled making Nicola’s dress at the eleventh hour”.

He added: “Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.

"They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.

"During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me 'evil' because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola's Naunni at our table, because they both didn't have their husbands. Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours."

The entrepreneur did not stop there, though, accusing his brothers - Cruz and Romeo - of blocking him on social media “out of nowhere” last summer.

"My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance, to a romantic love song,” he added.

“In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.

"She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment."

Brooklyn then described how he felt his wife had been “disrespected” by the Beckham family through their relationship.

He finished the statement asking for “peace, privacy, and happiness”. The Beckham family have not responded.
