Brighton and Hove Albion have reportedly set a monumental transfer fee for highly-rated striker Evan Ferguson.

Over the last few years, Brighton have built up a reputation for getting the best money from selling their players.

For example, Ben White was sold to Arsenal for £50 million and Marc Cucurella was offloaded to Chelsea for £56 million.

This week, Moises Caicedo was sold for a British record £115 million as the 21-year-old completed a move to Chelsea.

18-year-old Irish striker Ferguson has also been attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea after a string of impressive performances.

However, the interested parties have now been told that it will take a new British record fee if they are to prize Ferguson away from the Amex Stadium.

According to The Express, Spurs are interested in signing Ferguson as the replacement for Harry Kane, who has joined Bayern Munich.

It has been reported that after charging £115 million for Caicedo, the Seagulls want at least £120 million to part ways with Ferguson.

Former Spurs striker and BBC Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has said that Ferguson is the ideal replacement for Kane.

The ex-England striker said: “He’s a born goalscorer.

“I’d take a punt on him as Kane’s replacement. Apologies to [Brighton] fans.”

Speaking in a recent interview, Seagulls chief Paul Barber has said it will be at least five years before Brighton are willing to do business for Ferguson.

He said: “In Evan’s case, it’ll be in at least five years’ time.

“Ultimately, the technical staff are making the key decisions on where a player is in his development, whether he needs more first-team games or needs to go on loan or if we need to trade earlier or later.”

Brighton will be back in Premier League action this weekend as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
