Thomas Tuchel slams Bayern Munich players including Harry Kane in angry rant after Lazio defeat

Thomas Tuchel slams Bayern Munich players including Harry Kane in angry rant after Lazio defeat

Bayern Munich suffered a disappointing defeat against Lazio in the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel unleashed an angry rant after Bayern Munich’s disappointing defeat against Lazio in the Champions League.

On Wednesday night, the Bavarian club arrived at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy looking to get the better of Serie A side Lazio in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

However, the German champions were beaten 1-0 after Ciro Immobile scored a penalty in the 69th minute.

Bayern made unwanted history during the match after failing to register a single shot on target, despite having 17 attempts.

Speaking after the match, a furious Tuchel said: “No, I’m not worried about my future or [the] potential sack. We did everything to lose this match. It was in our hands. At a certain point we stopped believing, I’ve no idea why. There were many individual mistakes.

“We're frustrated and angry about the defeat. I think we lost the game, I'm not sure Lazio won it.”

He added: “We did everything we could to fall behind, making errors and losing confidence. (There was) no need for Upamecano to go in like that. It's not wild or intentional - but just block the shot.

“We started well, had a chance in the first minute and then with Harry Kane and then with Jamal Musiala. We had the game under control in the first half.

“But in the second our performance dropped inexplicably. We made too many individual errors and made our opponents stronger and we lost concentration. We lost our rhythm. It was completely our responsibility. We lost a game today that in the first half looked like we could not lose it.”

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said to Sky Germany: “Of course, he is struggling with the situation, which is very difficult for all of us. Our goal is to fight our way out of this together. We’re all in the same boat."

Bayern have the chance to put things right this weekend when they take on VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga on Sunday afternoon.
