Fans have been reacting on social media after details of the 2025 Ballon d'Or voting reportedly emerged.

On Monday night, all eyes were on the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France, as the 2025 Ballon d'Or awards ceremony took place.

Paris Saint Germain winger and heavy favourite Ousmane Dembele was the winner of the men's award, with Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati winning the women's trophy for the third year running.

Speaking after winning the Ballon d'Or, Dembele said: "I am a little stressed to be honest. I have received this award from one of the biggest legends of all time, I can't believe this.

"This is an award thanks to the collective. I want to thank all my teammates."

Dembele finished ahead of the likes of Lamine Yamal, Vitinha, Mohamed Salah and Raphinha.

A few days after the ceremony took place, details of the voting have emerged on social media.

As per One Football, Egyptian reporter Ismael Mahmoud revealed that only four of the journalists involved in the voting put Salah in first place. They were journalists from Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, and South Africa.

Meanwhile, those from Qatar, Romania, Mexico, Equatorial Guinea, Georgia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Albania, Panama, Switzerland, and Uganda snubbed Salah for their top ten.

Reacting on social media, fans were left unimpressed with votes given to Salah after the Liverpool star's stellar 24/25 campaign.

One fan said: "20 more G/A and 723 less votes than the winner."

Another tweeted: "Joke of an award!!!"

A third fan added: "Mo Salah at 4th tells you all you need to know about the Ballon d’Or."

Someone else wrote: "Salah 657 votes and Vitinha 703 ??????"

A fifth commented: "Salah and Raphinha were both better than Yamal. Ballon d'Or is a joke."
