Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has reportedly received a shock offer to join another Premier League club in a move that nobody has seen coming.

On Friday evening, Aston Villa cruised past Tottenham Hotspur with a 2-0 victory in their final match at Villa Park this season.

After the match, Villa goalkeeper Martinez shocked fans as he tearfully walked around the stadium as he appeared to wave goodbye to supporters in the ground.

Since then, fans have been eager to know exactly what the Argentina International meant with this gesture, and where he could possibly go next if he is suggesting that he will leave the club in the summer.

But we may now finally have the answer, as a new report has claimed that Martinez is considering offers from two massive clubs, and one of them would see him stay within the Premier League.

According to Latin American outlet DSPORTS, Martinez currently has offers from both Barcelona and Manchester United, with his departure from Aston Villa all but confirmed.

Details of the two offers are not yet known, but the 32-year-old is said to be considering both clubs as he decides what the next step of his career looks like.

It is believed that Champions League football remains important to Martinez, and will play a major factor in any decision regarding his future.

Therefore, United will likely need to win their upcoming Europa League final clash with Tottenham Hotspur if they hope to have any chance of beating La Liga winners Barcelona in the race to secure the goalkeeper's signature.

Previous reports had suggested that the World Cup winner's most likely destination was a club playing in the Saudi Pro League, but it now appears that he would prefer to stay within Europe for the foreseeable future.

As it stands, Martinez is currently value at €25 million (£21m), via transfermarkt.com, but his importance to Villa and the fact that he is under contract until June 2029 would likely mean that the Midlands club could ask for an amount in excess of that if they agree to a move.
