Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has again trolled Lille fans after his penalty heroics in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Aston Villa made history on Thursday night by reaching the semi-finals of a European competition for the first time since 1982, and Emi Martinez turned out to be the hero.

After beating Lille 2-1 in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final last week, Villa were minutes away from elimination when Matty Cash pulled a goal back to level the tie 3-3 on aggregate.

No further goals were scored in extra-time, so the tie was decided by a penalty shootout.

Martinez came into his own, saving Lille's first and fifth penalties to secure a 4-3 victory.

The shootout risked descending into chaos after Martinez made his first save, as he was shown a second yellow card of the evening for appearing to gesture to the home supporters.

To the confusion of practically everyone in the stadium and watching at home, he was not dismissed from the field as rules state that yellow cards are reset before the start of a penalty shootout.

After receiving a hostile reception from the Lille fans due to his penalty heroics for Argentina against France in the 2022 World Cup final, Martinez shushed them after saving his first penalty, before performing his trademark dance after his second stop.

Later on Thursday evening the goalkeeper trolled Lille fans by posting on social media a photo of him 'shushing' the crowd, but on Friday morning he took things as step further.

The 31-year-old posted a video compilation of his penalty saves and crowd-goading antics, proving many people's argument that he is the biggest sh*thouse in football.

"This guy is actually enjoying all of this, France must hate him so much," one fan commented on the video, while another wrote: "You know how to chill and keep their voices quite with just a simple dance move."

A third fans joked: "Bro actually owns France," before another asked: "Where do you want your statue, Dibu?"

Although he was not sent off during the shootout, Martinez will miss the first leg of the semi-final against Olympiacos through suspension due to yellow card accumulation.
