David Ornstein has dropped a huge update on the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres and it impacts Arsenal and Manchester United.

Gyokeres has attracted plenty of interest this summer, with both Arsenal and Man United keeping taps on the Sporting CP star.

But the Gunners are the favourites to sign the 27-year-old as Ornstein has provided a major update in the transfers saga.

The journalist claims Arsenal and Sporting are on the verge of a total agreement for the transfer of Gyokeres.

A deal worth £54.8 million plus £8.6 million of future bonuses has already been struck in principle.

Ornstein states issues remained over the nature and achievability of those contingency payments, which caused a delay in the proposed move being finalised.

But talks are now at an 'advanced stage' and a conclusion is imminent.

He says 'finishing touches' and 'some minor tweaks' are required before the transfer can be completed.

Per his report, Gyokeres was only focused on signing for Arsenal amid intense transfer speculation.

He did not consider any other team, with Man United keen on recruiting him to link up with his former manager Ruben Amorim.

What's more, his agent waived his commission to help the transfer to come to fruition.

A five-year contract until June 2030 has been prepared.

Gyokeres has emerged as one of the leading forwards in Europe following his form at Sporting.

He scored 43 goals across all competitions following his switch from Coventry City in the summer of 2023.

And the Swede bagged an impressive 54 goals last season.

Gyokeres has already been on the books of a Premier League club following his spell at Brighton, but he failed to make a single league appearance.

Speaking to France Football, he vowed to get 'great revenge' in England's top flight.

On the Premier League, Gyokeres said: "It’s one of the biggest leagues in Europe.

"I spent several years there without being able to play a single match. So, of course, it’s something I would like to do. It would be a great revenge."

Once Gyokeres' transfer to Arsenal is complete, he will be the club's fifth signing of the summer following the acquisitions of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke.
