David Ornstein shares bombshell update on Viktor Gyokeres' move to Arsenal 'collapsing'

Viktor Gyokeres' move to Arsenal from Sporting CP could fall through, according to a fresh report from Portugal.

Viktor Gyokeres' move to Arsenal may not be completely done and dusted, with a bombshell report in Portugal claiming there is still a major hurdle to overcome.

Having finished second three years in a row, Arsenal set their sights on the Sporting CP striker as their top target to strengthen their attack and add much-needed goals.

Gyokeres, who has scored 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting, more than fits the bill and told the Portuguese champions he wished to leave the club for a new challenge.

The saga involving the Swede has dominated headlines throughout the summer, with Gyokeres at odds with Sporting and refusing to train as his club and and Arsenal engage in regular back-and-forth negotiations.

Gyokeres' personal terms were never the issue and it appeared as though a breakthrough was reached in regards to the transfer fee, said to be €70 million - including €10 million in add-ons.

The sticking point is believed to the bonuses, with Arsenal reluctant to adhere to Sporting's request of achievable add-ons.

A Bola, another Portuguese outlet, say that only €3 million of the variables are deemed to be "easily achievable" by Sporting, who reject the arrangement.

David Ornstein comments on Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal

Despite the former Coventry City striker's agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, waiving his commission in a bid to speed up the deal, the deal is under threat and David Ornstein of The Athletic has issued an update on the situation.

Speaking to Sky Sports News for their 'Back Pages' segment, Ornstein explained: "They still need to put the finishing touches on the nature of the add-ons and there are reports coming from Portugal tonight that the Sporting president, Frederico Varandas wants near, fixed and guaranteed add-ons and maybe Arsenal's thoughts on how you get to those add-ons are a little bit different.

"I guess these are naturally parts of the closing stages of negotiations and it can get a little bit tense.

"Arsenal are in a very advanced position on this and they're trying to close it out. It's not done just yet but they'll be hopeful they can do so and get him on their pre-season tour."

Should Arsenal thrash out an agreement with Sporting, Gyokeres would become their fourth signing of the summer after the captures of Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
