Sporting have asked to include four specific clauses in the Viktor Gyokeres deal but Arsenal aren't happy with one part of the terms.

Ever since the transfer window opened at the beginning of June, Arsenal's interest in signing a new striker has been clear, with Sporting star Gyokeres believed to be their top target.

The Swedish international has been the linked with several of the biggest clubs across Europe in recent weeks, but recent reports appear to suggest that Arsenal have won the race for his signature, with a deal to secure his transfer believed to be imminent.

Although it is likely that the deal will be completed in the coming days, there are still several factors holding it negotiations between Sporting and Arsenal, including the clauses that will be included in the deal.

According to a new report from Portuguese outlet Record, Sporting have requested four specific clauses to included in the deal for Gyokeres, with each rewarding €2.5million (£2.16m), totalling €10m (£8.5m) if all four are achieved.

The first clause would be activated following Gyokeres' first first 20 games in England, with another €2.5m clause triggering if the Sweden international completed a second 20-game season.

Champions League qualification would see Sporting net another one of the four clauses, with the final clause reliant on Gyokeres completing another 20-game block in his second season.

Although it is believed that Arsenal are happy with each of these clauses individually, they feel that they are each too easy and are arguing that one of them should relate to a more ambitious goal.

The Gunners are happy to pay €7.5million (£6.5m) in easily achievable bonus clauses, but are currently in talks with Sporting about the final €2.5million (£2.16m), after that is agreed, the deal will be completed quickly.

How much will Arsenal pay for Viktor Gyokeres?

Although the exact fee that Arsenal will pay for the 27-year-old is not yet known, it is widely believed that it will be in the region of €63.5m (£55m) plus the additional €10m (£8.5m) available in bonuses.

Should this deal go through, then Sporting will have to give €4.35m (£3.76m) of the transfer fee to give to Gyokeres' former club, Coventry City, after they included a 10% sell-on clause when selling him back in 2023.
