Arsenal Result Costs Punter Life-Changing Amount of Money off Two Bet Builders

He was SO close...

Arsenal ended a run of eight consecutive clean sheets against Sunderland, but their defensive slip-ups cost one fan much more than just a defensive record.

The Gunners were forced to come from behind at the Stadium of Light after a great finish from fan favourite Dan Ballard in the first half.

Mikel Arteta's side proved once again why they are top of the Premier League in the second half, with a smart finish from Bukayo Saka and a screamer from Leandro Trossard turning the match on its head.

However, in the final moments it was Sunderland's turn to prove their early-season form was no fluke, as new signing Brian Brobbey beat Gabriel to fire past David Raya.

The result puts Sunderland fourth in the Premier League as things stand, and gives one of Man City or Liverpool the chance to close the gap to Arsenal at the summit.

While Arsenal fans will be mourning the loss of their recent impenetrable defensive record, one fan will be suffering more than others due to the real-world consequences of the result.

X user daine_tasker1 revealed Arsenal's dropped points cost him £11,000 off a £3.20 stake across two bets.

He wrote on X: "Arsenal just cost me 11 grand off £3.20."

Arsenal's failure to take the three points back to North London was the only failure out of the 15 stakes made by the punter across yesterday's Premier League games.

The two bets were 606/1 and 7196/1 respectively.

Despite the last-gasp equaliser, Arteta wasn't too downbeat about the result and gave credit to Sunderland for their performance.

"The game was almost there," Arteta said via Reuters.

"but you know this is the Premier League and the manner that they play, they're going to hang in there when it's just one goal difference.

"I'm upset and frustrated because it's an action that we can defend better, but as well you have to give credit to the opposition to do what they've done."
