Arsenal emerged as 1-0 winners over West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon; however, it was not without incident as the Hammers believed they had equalised in the dying moments before it was ruled out for a foul on the Gunners' keeper in the build-up.
Mikel Arteta’s side took the lead in the game late on through Leandro Trossard in the 83rd minute, but there was still time for West Ham to push for an equaliser.
The victory has edged Arsenal closer to the Premier League title as they stretched their lead over Manchester City in the race for the trophy to five points and kept fate in their own hands.
However, this may not have been the case had the goal West Ham scored in stoppage time not been ruled out after a VAR review.

Darren England in the VAR room suggested that Chris Kavanagh take a look at the monitor to see if David Raya was being held by the West Ham striker in the build-up to the goal, and upon review, the referee deemed this to be the case and ruled it out.
Now, following the decision and upon the completion of the match between Arsenal and West Ham, the Premier League have explained their decision to disallow the goal.
In their statement they said: “After VAR review, the referee overturned the original decision of goal to West Ham United.
“Referee announcement: ‘After review, West Ham number 19 commits a foul on the goalkeeper. Final decision is direct free kick.’”
West Ham will be furious with the decision, as it has left them a point behind Tottenham Hotspur in the relegation battle, having played a game extra, with the Hammers still needing to travel to Newcastle United before hosting Leeds United.
While Arsenal will feel confident they have secured the title, as they now play Burnley and Crystal Palace, who both have nothing to play for domestically but pride.
