Arsenal fans have placed the blame on one player after Manchester City scored a late equaliser.

On Sunday evening, the Gunners looked like they were well on the way to winning three huge points against City at the Etihad Stadium.

However, John Stones had other ideas as he smashed home from close range to make it 2-2 deep into stoppage time.

Reacting on social media, Arsenal fans were not happy with late second-half substitute Gabriel Jesus.

One fan said: “I am so annoyed at Gabriel Jesus right now. Time is up, all you need to do is kick it away from our goal, not take it back to the corner flag gifting them a needless corner.”

Another tweeted: “I blame one person tho, Gabriel Jesus. Please tell me WHY THE HELL THAT BROTHER WENT BACK, just clear it!”

A third fan added: “I want Gabriel Jesus sold in January. Guy single-handedly cost us the game with his stupidity.”

Someone else wrote: “Heart break for Arsenal, resolute defending. Gabriel Jesus should have f***ing cleared that ball which lead to that corner.”

A fifth commented: “Bro thought he was playing for city and tried to win a corner.”

Another fan said: “Why is Gabriel Jesus shielding the ball in his own corner… Then city go and score!”

Speaking after the match, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “I am so proud of the team. We played the game in a difficult context. Playing against the best team in the world.

“After what happened we went 2-1 up - it was a different story and I prefer not to make any comment about that [Leandro Trossard's red card].”

He continued: “Obviously, it is already a miracle we played 56 minutes at the Etihad with 10 men. It is unbelievable what we have done.

“It is obvious what happened when they made that decision, but it doesn't deserve my comment. I don't want to ruin anything else off the pitch.”
