Gary Neville trolled Arsenal immediately after West Ham bundled in the opener against the Gunners.

After 13 minutes of their Premier League encounter, West Ham's Jarrod Bowen, poked the ball across goal for Tomas Soucek, who was unmarked in the box to smash the opener beyond David Raya in the Arsenal goal.

However, a lengthy VAR check followed as the officials attempted to decipher whether the ball went out before Bowen reached it.

After a couple of minutes the goal was given, with it not being 'clear and obvious' whether the ball had gone out of play.

The incident was similar to a previous controversy some months earlier when Arsenal were furious a Newcastle goal had been given despite, among other things, their belief the ball had exited the pitch in the build-up.

At the time, Mikel Arteta expressed his anger at the decision in a post match press conference, while Neville went on Sky Sports to essentially explain how perspective and spheres work.

And immediately after Arsenal conceded to West Ham, Neville quote tweeted a video of the aforementioned explainer alongside several 'laughing' emojis.

He then posted a picture of himself looking over a ball on the edge of the by-line to the fury of several Arsenal fans on X.

With it impossible to know whether the ball went out of play in the build up to Soucek's goal, former Arsenal, Cardiff and one-cap England international Jay Bothroyd told Sky Sports News that VAR should have access to more angles of the incident.

He said: "The Premier League spend so much money on everything about football but then in these situations there's one view.

"There's no bird's eye view, no view from the other side - that was too far away and couldn't zoom in. They should have this sorted out already.

"Those are the details they need to work out. If that was out and you've given a goal that's a poor decision on what they've seen.

"Those are the things everyone is frustrated with in football right now."
