Arsenal are set to sell one of their midfielders who has failed to impress Mikel Arteta in training.

It's set to be a busy summer for the Gunners and their sporting director Edu as they try to go again with the hope of finally winning the Premier League.

Arteta's side have been impressive once again this season but ultimately fell short yet again to Manchester City who clinched their fourth successive title.

Changes are needed in the eyes of many at Arsenal and one player who could be offloaded is attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira.

The 23-year-old Portuguese player moved to North London back in 2022 for a fee of £30 million from Porto.

He has hardly featured this season making a total of 11 appearances in the league due to his unimpressive performances in training which have left Arteta concerned, according to The Athletic.

It would be a big decision to let Vieira go given he only arrived two years ago and does have a lot of potential.

Missing 15 games due to a groin injury picked in back in November will have contributed to his struggles this season so perhaps he deserves another chance.

However, Arteta has a track record of being ruthless with underperforming places with Emile Smith-Rowe and Eddie Nketiah two academy graduates also linked with moves away.

The club possess a huge amount of quality going forward, especially in midfield with the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

As you'd expect when challenging City, the bar is extremely high, so it's inevitable that some aren't going to cut it.

Just because it hasn't gone well for Vieira at the Emirates it doesn't mean he lacks quality, and there would likely be plenty of clubs lining up to take him off Arsenal's hands.
