David Silva believes there is only one team who can challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

Former City playmaker, Silva, is a much-loved figure among Sky Blues supporters, having played a key part in their first ever Premier League title in 2012.

The Spaniard went on to play over 400 matches for the club, winning four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups over his decorated career.

Unfortunately, the 37-year-old was forced to retire this summer after sustaining a knee injury, but he reckons City will continue to dominate the English football scene for the foreseeable future.

"They [City] have an amazing team with some amazing players," Silva told The Mirror.

"This is Pep’s eighth season at City. The first year he was getting used to the Premier League, but now they are almost unstoppable."

But the former Spain international reckons Arsenal are the only team who stand a chance of challenging the reigning champions, and his answer may anger the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United - who will both be hoping to compete for the title this season.

"Arsenal are the only team I can see who maybe have a chance of challenging City," he added. "The rest? I don’t think they can.

"I watched nearly all of City’s games in the Champions League last season, I couldn’t win it when I was there, but I’m so happy for the club that they were finally able to do it.

"They deserve it. The club deserves it, the supporters deserve to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup – the Treble. It was an amazing achievement."
