Arsenal fans took note of what Bukayo Saka did after Ben White’s freak goal against Chelsea.

Arsenal moved three points clear at the Premier League summit after they thrashed Chelsea 5-0 at the Emirates on Tuesday.

Leandro Trossard opened the scoring before Kai Havertz and White each netted twice in a rampant second half for Mikel Arteta’s side.

White’s second was arguably the goal of the game - a glorious first-time volley, which sailed over Djordje Petrovic and into the net.

The defender’s sheepish celebrations, however, suggested he had meant to cross rather than score from the cushioned strike.

White’s an unlikely scorer at the best of times, and one fan on social media noted Saka’s stunned response upon seeing the defender's volley find the back of the net. The winger put his hands on his head, visibly stunned by his team-mates goal. You can watch it below.

One person on X (Twitter) said: “Look at Bukayo Saka’s reaction! He couldn’t believe what just happened.”

Another noted Havertz’s more tepid response, saying: “Kai was p***ed he wanted that hat trick.”

The emphatic victory came just three days after an important 2-0 win over Wolves and provided Mikel Arteta’s men with a three-point cushion on second-placed Liverpool and a four-point lead over Manchester City in third.

Of course, Liverpool can go level on points at the top with a win over Merseyside rivals Everton, while City play the first of their two games in hand away to Brighton on Thursday.

After the game Arsenal boss Arteta said: "I'm happy with the win and the amount of chances and goals we scored. Also, the clean sheet shows the consistency of this team.

"We had to be more disciplined in the second half to do the right things and we created many chances and we defended the box so much better.

"I congratulated the players for making our supporters happy in a big London derby and it was a joy to watch them play. It's onto Spurs now.

"They know what we are playing for. They are so excited and they are at it. Even the players that haven't played much have been outstanding and that holds the team together.

"My job is to keep challenging and be demanding of them but to also make them believe they can do it because that is a very important thing."
