Piers Morgan has sent a message directly to Mikel Arteta after a Manchester City fan went viral online drinking from an Arsenal bottle.

On Saturday afternoon, Arsenal suffered perhaps one of the most damaging losses of their season as they were beaten 2-1 by Bournemouth at the Emirates.

A day later, Manchester City capitalised on their title rivals stumble as they beat Chelsea 2-0 to move within six points of the Gunners, with a game in hand.

During the match, cameras inside Stamford Bridge caught a giddy Man City fan jokingly drinking from a water bottle with Arsenal's badge on it, riling up fans as it went viral online.

One of the Arsenal fans to clearly be bothered by the clip was broadcaster Morgan, who took to social media to repost the clip alongside a clear message to Arteta and the Arsenal squad.

Posting on X, Morgan wrote: "Memo to Mikel Arteta ‘The best revenge is massive success’ - Frank Sinatra."

With a trip to the Etihad to face City coming next weekend, Arsenal have the perfect chance to bounce back and silence any talks of a bottlejob by beating their main title rivals at home.

Of course, a loss to City could be catastrophic for the Gunners, as it would place the title race in City's hands with just one month left in the season.

Thankfully for Morgan, it wasn't all bad news on Sunday, as he also shared several posts celebrating Rory McIlroy's historic back-to-back win at The Masters.

However, even while celebrating the result in the golf, Morgan couldn't help but send another message to those doubting Arsenal's ability to win the Premier League title this season.

On Saturday, McIlroy saw his historic six shot lead cut down to just one and eventually fell behind, leading to an AI-generated image of McIlroy in an Arsenal kit, mocking them both by suggesting they would bottle, going viral online.

But after the Northern Irishman fought back to win the green jacket, Morgan shared the image to hit back and say it shows that his beloved Gunners will do the same in the coming weeks.

Morgan wrote: "When Rory was trailing yesterday, having blown a 6-shot lead, I was sent this meme by many friends and X trolls.

"Of course, they all now look complete idiots and this is clearly a sign that after our little wobble, Arsenal will fight back and win the Premier League."
