Andy Carroll has left Bordeaux after one season in the French fourth tier.
Former England, Liverpool and Newcastle striker Carroll joined Bordeaux from Ligue 2 side Amiens last September, and went on to score 11 goals in 21 games for Les Girondins.
In a statement, Bordeaux said Carroll had taken the decision to “be closer to his children”.

“FC Girondins de Bordeaux would like to warmly thank Andy Carroll for his time at the club this season,” the club said in a statement.
“Having arrived last summer with a desire to take on a new challenge, Andy did not hesitate to join the Bordeaux adventure, showing total commitment from his first day.
“On the pitch, the English striker scored 11 goals in 21 league matches.

“But beyond the statistics, Andy brought his experience, physical impact, and professionalism to his role on a daily basis, both in the dressing room and in important matches.
“Off the pitch, he is an exceptional and generous personality that the Club's fans and employees have enjoyed working alongside.
“Today, to be closer to his children, Andy has chosen to return home. We fully understand and respect this personal decision.
“Thanks for everything, Andy. You'll always be home here. Safe travels and see you soon!”
Six time Ligue 1 winners Bordeaux filed for bankruptcy and surrendered their professional status upon being relegated from Ligue 2 to the Championnat National 2 last year.

Carroll netted 54 times in 248 Premier league games while playing at Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham United.
The 36-year-old went on to play for Reading and West Bromwich Albion before moving to France two years ago.
L’Equipe alleged last year that Carroll earned €1,614 (£1,372) gross per month at Bordeaux, which is less than €1,400 (£1,190) after tax.
In an interview with L'Equipe earlier this season, Carroll admitted: “I rent a nice little house and my salary is less than my rent. If I joined Bordeaux, it's obviously not for the money.”
