Real Madrid's 13 Champions League titles will transfer across to European Super League titles, it is being reported.

Just as European Cups and Champions Leagues have always been added together, despite the competition's 1992 rebrand, so the total will convert into the Super League wins. So Real Madrid will begin the new competition as - unbelievably - 13-time former champions.

That, as reported by Madrid-based journalist Paul Tenorio, would mean the 12 clubs involved are clearly positioning the Super League as the natural replacement of the Champions League.

The announcement that 12 of Europe's biggest clubs (six from the Premier League, three from La Liga and three from Serie A) were forming a breakaway European league rocked the football world on Sunday.

The 12 founding members will, presumably, all bring their Champions League/European Cup wins with them in the new competition.

So AC Milan would start with seven Super League crowns, Liverpool will be six-time champions, Barcelona are on five, while Manchester United and Inter Milan boast three European crowns.

Juventus are two-time European champions, while Chelsea have one win to their name.

Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Manchester City have not won a Champions League - although City are still in this season's semi-finals are set to be facing Paris Saint-Germain. Assuming UEFA allow the tie to go ahead.

European football's governing body is reportedly furious at the 12-club announcement, which has also received a powerful backlash from football fans and those within the game.

If Real Madrid won the first Super League, would you recognise them as 14-time European champions?
