Neymar's father has unleashed a furious rant after seeing his son carted off on a stretcher during Paris Saint-Germain's 1-0 defeat to Lyon.

The Brazilian was reduced to tears after a terrible challenge from Thiago Mendes, who was sent off.

It has been confirmed Neymar hasn't broken his ankle, but his father is still frustrated at the lack of protection from Ligue 1 referees.

Neymar Sr vented: "F***... how much longer? We have spoken about this so much, we have so underlined the excess of violence.

"Why not stop it at the start, with the first foul, why wait until the 7th, 8th, 9th?

"We are not taking the necessary measures throughout the entire match, during which Neymar was the victim of a dozen fouls, always violent ones.

"This encourages these type of players and attitudes. Continue like this and football will really lose a lot... FOR HOW MUCH LONGER WILL THE VICTIM BE THE ONE AT FAULT?

"It is up to the person who controls the match, the person who has the opportunity to protect... ahh... What can we do? I hope that God looks after you."

The 28-year-old's injury compiled misery on Thomas Tuchel's side, who fell to a Tino Kadewere goal.

Tuchel spoke at full-time and criticised his side's performance in their fourth domestic defeat of the season.

"It's very clear we weren't ready to play a competitive match. We made easy mistakes in dangerous situations," he said.

"We didn't play in a disciplined way; we didn't follow the plan.

"We saw a very mentally tired team after Manchester United, Montpellier and [Istanbul] Basaksehir. It's not a good game in general, I saw a game with a very low level.

This performance is not enough. It's our fault. If we give gifts like that, it means that it's not serious enough because we have the qualities to win every match.

"We're going to push again. We made some steps forward, but today is a big step back."
