Preliminary tests have confirmed that Neymar did not suffer a broken ankle during Paris Saint-Germain's clash with Lyon at the weekend.

The forward left the field in tears as he was stretchered off following a horror tackle by Thiago Mendes in stoppage time on Sunday.

The Lyon player was sent off for his troubles and there were fears Neymar could be sidelined for some time.

However, following tests, Le Parisien report that Neymar's injury isn't serious and the Brazilian will not require surgery.

PSG slumped to their fourth league defeat of the season with Lyon climbing to second in the table, level on points with Lille.

On Monday, Thomas Tuchel's men were drawn to face Neymar's former side Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Neymar has suffered two metatarsal fractures during his time in Paris. He also missed the Copa America in 2019 after rupturing ankle ligaments.

After the incident against Lyon, Neymar's father vented his anger on Instagram, stating: "Damn, how long?

"So much that is talked about, so much we allow this excess of violence! Why not stop it at the beginning, on the first foul, why wait for the seventh, eighth or ninth?

"Do we need to look at the VAR to see what an expulsion is? Do we need the VAR to see what such a violent entry is? Do we need someone to get hurt to make honest decisions?

"A player makes irresponsible tackles, violent, sideways, crosses the physical space of the other, without even the option of defending.

"We did not measure that throughout the game, where Neymar suffered the traditional foul and always violent, and with that we are feeding these types of players and attitudes.

"So football will end up losing.

"HOW LONG WILL IT BE UNTIL IT'S THE VICTIM'S FAULT?

"It depends on who controls the game, who has the opportunity to protect... Ahhhhhhhhh. To do what? God does care!!!"

Meanwhile, PSG boss Tuchel was unhappy with his side's flat performance at the Parc des Princes.

"It's very clear we weren't ready to play a competitive match. We made easy mistakes in dangerous situations," he said.

"We didn't play in a disciplined way; we didn't follow the plan.

"We saw a very mentally tired team after Manchester United, Montpellier and [Istanbul] Basaksehir. It's not a good game in general, I saw a game with a very low level.

This performance is not enough. It's our fault. If we give gifts like that, it means that it's not serious enough because we have the qualities to win every match.

"We're going to push again. We made some steps forward, but today is a big step back."
