A football fan has created a Twitter thread explaining why Lionel Messi is not a complete player.

The Barcelona forward is widely regarded to be one of the greatest players of all time.

But Twitter user @AntiLaportisimo has created a Twitter thread explaining why he thinks Messi is not a complete player.

The first point he makes is that the 32-year-old is poor with his weak foot.

The second point of critique is his heading ability.

Although Messi is only five foot seven the Twitter user believes that the diminutive forward's lack of aerial prowess works against him.

He also brings up that the Argentine is poor from the penalty spot having missed 24 in his career.

Furthermore, point number four discusses his lack of long shots from outside the penalty area.

Surely his exquisite free-kick technique balances it out?

The thread goes on to say that he lacks leadership qualities as well as 'clutchness' in the big games as long as failing to thrive in other systems.

Due to the talent he possesses, teams are often built around him rather than having to fit him into different systems.

Perhaps that point falls on those who manage him rather than the player.

The thread is well researched and backed up with statistics but it does seem rather over the top to say Messi is not one of the world's most complete players.

It is certainly a controversial opinion to have and it will definitely get many fans talking.
