He ate a snail to relieve tension.

AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso really doesn't give a s**t.

This latest story has only added to already quite strong perception that the man is a bit different than most top European managers.

Andrea Pirlo recently revealed that, during his Milan days, Gattuso once ate a live snail.

Yep. A Live. Snail.

We know what you're thinking: "Of course, we all love a tall tale, Pirlo. There's always the urge to add to the mythology of a character with these types of stories," etc, etc.

But you'd be wrong.

When Gattuso was asked by sceptical reporters to confirm whether this was true or not, he simply said:

"I've done worse things than eating a snail alive."

He was speaking on Tuesday night in a press conference, via FourFourTwo. "The point is, it was not about the snail anyway."

No? Well, what in the hell was it about, Gattuso?

"I'm saying this because my point is that in that particular moment there was need to do something to break the tension."

"Given that I have no problems doing anything and we were just few hours before the Champions League semi-final against Manchester United and there was a massive pressure on us."

Oh right, it was the pressure of playing Man United. It all makes sense now.

Of course, it's one of the many thing that people do to relief themselves of stress and tension of a cup tie.

Deep breaths. Check. Stress ball. Check. Rest leg syndrome. Check. Munch on live snail. Check.

Despite the peculiarity of this story, somehow it doesn't come as a massive shock. And what's more concerning is that Gattuso admits that he's done worse things. What could have you possibly done worse than eating a silmey snail that's still moving about, Gattuso?

Actually, don't answer that one. We really don't want to know. Honestly.
