Roy Keane tore into 'idiot' Kyle Walker for giving away a penalty during Manchester City vs Liverpool - even labelling him a 'car crash' defender.

Walker's rash challenge brought down Sadio Mane in the City box and Craig Pawson pointed to the spot.

Mohamed Salah dispatched to give his side the lead and Walker looked visibly frustrated.

Despite Gabriel Jesus' equaliser later in the half, Keane didn't hold back on Super Sunday and lambasted Walker at half time.

When asked about how Mane won the penalty, a blunt Keane replied: "Because he's up against an idiot. Kyle Walker, people tell me he's playing well. I don't think so. I think this guy, he's 30-years of age, an international player.

"He's a car crash. Keeps making these types of mistakes and rightly punished for it."

Micah Richards then intervened and said: "He's been in good form I think Roy is taking it a bit overboard there!

"He's been one of City's best players but he gambles there on that, he should've just waited. He gambled he was going outside, and before you know it Mane was there and he took him down."

Fans have reacted to the former Manchester United captain's harsh words.

City had a chance to take the lead through a penalty of their own, but Kevin De Bruyne put it wide.

The game ended 1-1 after a cagey second half.
