Roy Keane has described Manchester United 'the new Spurs' after their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham.

United fell to their first loss of the Premier League season in a disappointing display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou's side, meanwhile, took control of the match after half-time, scoring twice in an excellent second half display.

The defeat brought back painful memories of away clashes for United last season, including their 4-0 defeat to Brentford on the second weekend of the 2022/23 campaign.

And Keane was staggered at the display he witnessed from his former club.

Keane slams Man Utd after Tottenham defeat

Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane exclaimed: "Man United are the new Spurs. Desperate. Absolutely desperate.

"The biggest insult I almost think of about teams - teams that can't do it away from home, or players that aren't up for it away from home. They're a good team, they fancy it when their home fans are in front of them. They have that energy.

"United go away today. Second half, weak, no leadership, gave bad goals away. Spurs were lovely, all credit to Spurs.

"United, it's easy to play against United. I said before the game they were poor against Wolves but they got the result, and they'd be better today. But they weren't.

"They were fine the first half hour. But the game's well over 90 minutes. Obviously you're not going to dominate for that long, but just show some belief, desire, fight.

"You look at our captain [Bruno Fernandes] tonight, our senior players. These are established international players. Easy to play against - that's the biggest insult I can say to United players."

While Keane certainly wasn't impressed, Spurs picked up their first competitive win under Postecoglou's management - and the manner of the victory certainly bodes well for the future.
