Usain Bolt, widely considered to be the greatest sprinter of all time, was one of the biggest stars to take part in last night's Soccer Aid at The Etihad Stadium.

But the 35 year old Jamaican, who won 8 Olympic Gold medals during his career, was left behind by singer-songwriter Tom Grennan, who reached a faster speed than him when on the pitch.

Grennan, who also represented the 'Rest of the World' team, recorded an amazing speed of 32.4km/h whilst in the thick of the action.

This incredible stat sparked some great conversation online, with many calling for Grennan to be snapped up by a football club as soon as possible.

"Sign him up @CPFC," one Crystal Palace fan commented.

"Legend," another remarked.

"With that pace I think that he's found what he's been looking for," someone else said, a reference to Grennan's 2017 single Found What I've Been Looking For.

Bolt and Grennan were both smiling at the end of the match as the Rest of The World secured yet another victory against England.

A brace from reality TV star Kem Cetinay and strike from comedian and Soccer Aid veteran Lee Mack took Harry Redknapp's side to a comfortable 3-0 win, in what was a record-breaking night for the charity event.

An astonishing £13,014,797 was donated and will go to the UNICEF UK, the world's leading children's organisation.

In addition to seeing celebrities like Bolt and Grennan put on their boots, fans were also treated to several legends of the game, including Sky Sports' duo Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, former Galáctico Roberto Carlos and Dutch superstar Clarence Seedorf.

The latter smacked a terrific free-kick against the crossbar in the highlight of the first half, with his compatriot Nigel de Jong hitting the woodwork just before Cetinay's opener.

The closest England came were efforts from Derby County boss Wayne Rooney and former Chelsea and West Ham star Joe Cole, who were denied by substitute goalkeeper, presenter and former Strictly Come Dancing winner Ore Oduba.

Since the first match in 2006, Soccer Aid has raised over £38 million and visited the likes of Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.

The event's top scorer is Seedorf, with four goals to his name, with former England goalkeeper David Seaman making the most appearances, with an unrivalled 8.
