FIFA 22 season is upon us. So grab your FIFA 21 disc and throw it in the bin! Don't actually do that, keep it for nostalgia. One day you'll want to look back at it and remember the wins and losses.
As players from PC, PS4, Xbox One and next-gen consoles look to begin building their Ultimate Team squads, sign the next young prodigy on career mode or just simply play at home against their friends or family, questions will begin to arise about FIFA 22. Lucky for you, we've got all the answers you could ever need.
One of the biggest questions that has already become apparent is to do with cross-platform play, popular games like Warzone, Fortnite and Minecraft all enable it so well, but is it on FIFA?
FIFA 22 Guides:
Cross-platform, simply, is when players from various types of consoles can play against each other. So Xbox players can face PlayStation users, PC players and so on, no matter the generation or type of console.
Unfortunately not. Just like FIFA 21 and all previous editions, the game will remain restricted to playing other players who have the exact same console as you. PS5 players can only play against PS5, Xbox Series S vs Xbox Series S and that's all. Whatever console you have, that's what your opponent will be using.
"You will be able to match up with and against other players based on the version of FIFA 22 that you are playing.
"If you are playing the PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 22 you will be able to match up and play with and against other players who are playing on the same version of FIFA 22, regardless of whether they are playing on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. The same is true for the Xbox One version of FIFA 22, where you will be able to match up and play with and against other players who are playing the same version on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.
"If you are playing the PlayStation 5 version of FIFA 22, you will only be able to match up with and play against other players who are playing the PlayStation 5 version. The same is true for the Xbox Series X|S version of FIFA 22, where only players on Xbox Series X|S will be able to play each other."
No. Whereas EA Sports allowed this on the previous game as the next-gen consoles were released in season, it will not be applicable this year. You would need to buy FIFA 22 again on your new console.
