Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to sign Federico Dimarco from Inter Milan this summer to act as cover for Scottish international Kieran Tierney, who is currently out injured. The Sun have reported that Inter Milan have placed a £20 million price tag on the Italian footballer.

Arsenal just missed out on a Champions League spot this year, finishing 5th in the Premier League. The gunners will be sure to want to better their result next season, and in order to do so they’ll need to concede fewer goals.

Their first choice left back, Kieran Tiernay has unfortunately picked up a knee injury whilst on international duty. In addition, Nuno Tavares seemed to struggle to find his form in his first season in the Premier League. After all this Arteta is eager to sign Dimarco to provide some more depth in The Gunners defensive line ahead of next season. But Inter Milan’s £20 million price tag for the defender seems steep for a player who would primarily occupy the bench next season.

Arsenal were originally looking at Bologna rising star Aaron Hickey, but now they have seemed to be focused on Dimarco, who has been on the fringes of Inter’s starting XI this season. Arsenal had a successful transfer season last year, with new signings Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Martin Odegaard hitting the ground running.

Last season he made 19 out of his 32 league appearances from the bench, but performed solidly across his games, earning an average rating of 6.84 in his Serie A campaign, and making 33 passes per match with a pass completion rate of 88%. He also made 2 assists and scored 2 goals.

Arsenal are preparing for a big summer in this transfer market, they are looking to also potentially sign Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazilian stiker wanting to stay in the Premier League this season if he leaves the Etihad.
