Everton produced a monumental performance to stun league leaders Arsenal 1-0 in Sean Dyche's first game in charge.

Dyche was appointed Everton boss earlier in the week following the sacking of Frank Lampard, who was relieved of his managerial duties after the club's 2-0 defeat at West Ham United.

And he's wasted no time in making an impact, picking up three valuable points in his first game in charge of Everton.

The Toffees looked well up for the fight as they battled with Arsenal in the first-half, getting the Goodison Park faithful excited with encouraging moments.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a few opportunities in front of goal but failed to put the ball in the back of the net.

But the hosts broke the deadlock on the hour mark when James Tarkowski headed home from a Dwight McNeil corner kick.

The goal came just a minute after January signing Jorginho entered the fray.

The victory over Arsenal is just Everton's fourth win of their Premier League campaign as they move out of the relegation zone ahead of the rest of the weekend's fixtures.

They have 18 points on the board - level on points with West Ham, Leeds United and Leicester City, with the Dyche's Everton era off to a winning start.

As for Arsenal, they failed to improve their lead at the top, but remain five points clear of second-placed Manchester City, who face Tottenham on Sunday.

It's just the second time Mikel Arteta's team have tasted defeat in the league, having also lost to Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola's side could close the gap on Arsenal to just two points should they win in the capital.
