Erling Haaland Will Make A Special Request In Manchester City Contract

Erling Haaland Will Make A Special Request In Manchester City Contract

Erling Haaland is set to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, with Manchester City the favourites to land him.

Erling Haaland will ask for a release clause in any contract he is offered from suitors this summer.

The Norwegian goal machine is widely expected to leave Borussia Dortmund for pastures new after developing into one of the world's deadliest strikers.

Still yet to turn 22, Haaland has hit 80 goals in as many games for BVB since joining from Red Bull Salzburg in a €20 million switch in December 2019.

He has almost outgrown the Bundesliga outfit and looks nailed on for a big move at the end of the season.

According to Martin Blackburn from The Sun, Manchester City are favourites for Haaland's signature, with Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona also in the race.

But in any case, Haaland is set to demand a buyout clause is inserted in his next deal as he wants to keep his options open for the future.

A release clause was written into his Dortmund contract, meaning Haaland is available for a dirt-cheap £63 million in the summer transfer window.

With bonuses, a signing on fee and a payment to superagent Mino Raiola factored in, the total package for the Haaland deal is likely to be around £100 million.

A few days back, the Daily Mail reported that City had discussed personal terms with Haaland and "the framework of the transfer" is ready to be thrashed out for the Premier League champions' number one striker target.

The Etihad club did look at Spurs striker Harry Kane in the summer but appear to have their focus firmly on Haaland.

Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, had a three-year spell at City and he himself has been spotted at games and wearing City merchandise as a youngster.

Haaland played at the Etihad Stadium for the first time in April 2021 and was spotted walking around City's badge, whilst also being deep in conversation with Phil Foden at the final whistle.
