Fans convinced England player is 'nowhere near international level' following performance against Belgium

Fans convinced England player is 'nowhere near international level' following performance against Belgium

England fans on social media made their feelings known.

Fans are convinced an England player is not good enough for international level following his howler against Belgium.

England, who lost 1-0 to Brazil last weekend, conceded two cheap goals against Belgium in the first half of their friendly match at Wembley Stadium.

Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans opened the scoring after pouncing on a Jordan Pickford mistake.

Brentford star Ivan Toney levelled proceedings from the spot as he scored his first England goal.

Belgium, however, regained the lead through Tielemans as Romelu Lukaku capitalised on a sloppy piece of defending from Lewis Dunk.

Lukaku played a sublime ball to Tielemans, who headed home to make it 2-1.

But England fans slammed the role Dunk had in the goal as they took aim at his defending in the build-up.

The Brighton defender failed to clear the ball as he allowed the former Chelsea and Manchester United forward to set up the Villa midfielder.

People on social media made their feelings clear towards Dunk.

One X user exclaimed: "Dunk no where near international level, Adebayo ripped him apart at Luton."

A second tweeted: "This is the Lewis Dunk they tell me should start over Harry Maguire."

A third added: "You have to be a special kind of bad to make Romelu Lukaku look that good in 2024, but Lewis Dunk you figured out how to do it."

A fourth said: "How’s Lewis dunk in an England squad. Average beyond belief."

A fifth commented: "Lewis Dunk is hilarious man, get Jarrad on and stop this nonsense."

Another wrote: "Lewis Dunk: You can be a good Premier League player but not be good enough for international football. There are levels to it and I think we’ve seen that."

Dunk's outing against Belgium is his fifth cap for England, having made his debut back 2018.

He's played 34 games across all competitions for Brighton this season.

The 32-year-old was handed a starting spot on Tuesday ahead of Jarrod Branthwaite, who was called up to the England squad for the first time following his impressive performances for Everton this season.
