Thousands of England supporters inside the Daugava Stadium could be heard aiming some not-so-subtle chants at Thomas Tuchel during their World Cup qualifier against Latvia.
Tuchel was far from complimentary about the atmosphere inside Wembley during last week's friendly win over Wales, claiming after the full-time whistle that the stadium was "silent” for large parts.
"I love English football and I love English football fans and the support they give, but I think the atmosphere did not match the performance on the field," he said in his post-match interview.

"We had excellent support in Serbia, but [here] we were 3-0 up after 20 minutes, we had ball win after ball win after ball win and I felt like why is the roof still on the stadium? That's just it, it's nothing big."
Tuchel added: "We will do everything again to be infectious, there's no problem. I'm sure we will get everyone going - it is on us. But tonight I was a little underwhelmed."
Shortly after his comments, a Football Supporters' Association (FSA) spokesperson made their feelings clear on the matter.
"We appreciate Thomas Tuchel pushing for a better atmosphere; it's something we all want to see," they said. "But we hope he understands the reasons why and understands the challenges many fans face in getting to midweek games."

On Tuesday night, fans who made the trip to Latvia responded to Tuchel's criticism with some classic English humour.
In the opening stages, they could be heard chanting: "Thomas Tuchel we'll sing when we want!", "Are we loud enough for you?" and "Our support is f*****g s***!" as the German watched on.
A short time later and supporters chanted: "Tuchel give us a song" – a verse that was acknowledged by the England manager, who put a thumb up in recognition.
Tuchel's comments in the aftermath of last week's friendly against Wales were criticised by many, with the previously mentioned FSA explaining the situation for many supporters.

A spokesman told the PA news agency: “For many match-goers, midweek kick-offs at Wembley are incredibly difficult to get to as well. A lot of supporters have to leave at half-time to catch the last train home to different parts of the country.
“When England do play the odd fixture away from Wembley, there is always a big demand for tickets and a great atmosphere."
