Thomas Tuchel Names England Squad as Shock Trio Left Out

Tuchel has named his squad for upcoming fixtures against Wales and Latvia.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has named his squad for upcoming international fixtures against Wales and Latvia - and there are several surprise omissions.

The Three Lions host Wales at Wembley in an international friendly on October 9, before resuming their World Cup qualifying campaign against Latvia on October 14.

Tuchel's side have won all five of their qualifiers thus far and victory over Latvia in Riga will see them seal an automatic spot in next year's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Prior to that, the Wales fixture will carry special meaning as it is the fourth international charity match to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society, which is England's official charity partner.

The main headline from Tuchel's squad selection is that Everton's Jack Grealish has missed out on selection for the squad despite his superb start to the Premier League season.

Adam Wharton is also not involved despite his impressive form for Crystal Palace, while Phil Foden also hasn't earned a recall.

There is also no place for Jude Bellingham, though the Real Madrid star has only started one game since returning from a long-standing shoulder issue towards the end of last month.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been preferred in midfield after receiving a late injury call-up to Tuchel's last England squad.

And Bukayo Saka is back involved after missing the last international window with a hamstring problem.

Noni Madueke and Tino Livramento are both injured and drop out of the squad.
