Heung-Min Son is a much liked character not just within the Tottenham Hotspur fan base, but also within the wider football world, and it is very easy to see why.

With his constant cheerful persona and humble character backed up by his sublime footballing abilities, there aren’t many players more popular than Spurs’ South Korean superstar.

Son has enjoyed a stellar season with Spurs as his Golden Boot winning 23 goals in the Premier League helped his side seal fourth place in the table, and a space in next season’s Champions League. Beating arch rivals Arsenal to fourth will taste even sweeter.

In his country, Son is a megastar, but according to his Spurs team mate Emerson Royal, Son is not too sure whether he is a football star around the world.

Speaking ahead of Brazil’s match with South Korea, Emerson recalled a question from Son, asking about Paris Saint Germain star Neymar.

Emerson said: “Sonny asks me about Neymar, he says ‘ Does he know me?’ I reply: ’Hey Son, of course he knows you, man.”

“Just as you admire him, he can admire you too. Like Neymar, you’re a star.”

He added: “Heung-Min Son is a strong-hearted and cheerful person that is hard to explain.”

Son recently named Neymar as the best player in the world, and said about his ambition to reach his level. Speaking ahead of the match, Son outlined Neymar’s quality and the talent within the Brazil squad.

🗣 "Neymar is the best player in the world, and I think I am working hard to become the best player in the world."

Son said: “Neymar is the best player in the world, and I think I am working hard to become the best player in the world.”

“Brazil has a lot of world-class players. Our players are very much looking forward to the match itself. And I think the most important thing is to play a good game by putting all our efforts into the match to show our best in front of a lot of fans.”

Son’s quality is easy to see, and the Brazil squad knows that too.

Brazil coach, Tite said: “Heung-Min Son is a top-notch player with perfect technique, physical strength and spirit.”

Lucas Moura, Son's club team mate said: “It is very difficult to stop Son Heung-min.”

“Heung-Min Son is a fast and talented player,”

Son will be leading his country for the friendly match against Brazil, as he looks to continue his rise to the top of the football world.
