The Premier League returns this evening as Crystal Palace entertain Arsenal at Selhurst Park.

Palace begin their second season under former Gunners player Patrick Vieira, and they'll be looking to build on their 12th place finish in their debut campaign under the Frenchman.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be desperate to secure Champions League qualification this term after narrowly missing out on fourth place to North London rivals Tottenham last season.

Both sides experienced relatively successful pre-season campaigns, although the South Londoners squad was split in two for a portion of theirs, due to several squad members vaccination status.

The Eagles were left without several key players for their trips to South East Asia and Australia.

Conversely, Arsenal took a 33-man squad on their tour of the United States, and won all three games across the pond, as well as thrashing Sevilla 6-0 at the Emirates last weekend.

Crystal Palace Vs Arsenal Referee

Anthony Taylor will take charge of the Premier League’s 2022/23 season curtain raiser.

The 43-year-old refereed 41 games last season across all competitions, showing 151 yellow cards and seven red cards.

In Taylor’s last two games officiating Arsenal, he awarded the Gunners with a penalty in both, and sent off West Ham’s Valdimir Coufal in one.

Taylor will be accompanied at Selhurst Park by Assistant Referees Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn.

The VAR for this match will be Premier League referee Darren England, and the 37-year-old will be alongside Assistant VAR James Mainwaring.

Crystal Palace Vs Arsenal Fourth Official

Peter Bankes has been named as the Fourth Official for the match. The referee will oversee conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta.
