Cristiano Ronaldo isn't messing about after his Manchester United contract termination, having smashed in a worldie strike for Portugal in the warm-up.

Ronaldo and United have mutually agreed to cut ties with "immediate effect" after his controversial interview with Piers Morgan created a slew of headlines.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner will not receive any compensation and in a surprise turn of events, has gone into his fifth World Cup without a club.

The 37-year-old is firmly focused on the showpiece however and looked sharp as Portugal prepared for their Group H clash with Ghana.

A video doing the rounds on social media showed the Portugal captain and other teammates taking part in some shooting practice.

From distance, Ronaldo issued an absolute rocket that nearly bulged the net. There were shades of his strikes against Porto and Arsenal, with the former Real Madrid superstar looking in the mood.

When he led Portugal out at the Stadium 974, Ronaldo was visibly overcome with emotion as his country's national anthem played.

He was in tears as he belted out the song, showing how much it means for him to captain the national team in a World Cup after all he has accomplished.

In the actual game, Ronaldo missed a great chance to put his side ahead when his touch let him down after he was played through.

He also had a goal controversially disallowed after the referee deemed him to have fouled an opponent before he let rip into the far corner.

Ronaldo has been linked with a slew of clubs, but MLS side Inter Miami are the latest outfit to cool their interest - following on from Chelsea and Newcastle.

However, Marca, say the Portugal skipper could be set for a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Nassr ready to offer an insane £210 million package.

After United announced he was longer their player, Ronaldo released a statement which read: Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early.

“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge. I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”

Across two spells at Old Trafford, Ronaldo scored 145 goals for United.
