A damning clip from Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan has resurfaced after the Portuguese legend’s move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr was confirmed on Friday evening.

After weeks of speculation, it was confirmed on Friday that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has signed for Al-Nassr.

The Saudi Arabian club wrote on social media: “History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC.”

However, a clip from Ronaldo’s tell-all interview with Morgan has resurfaced on the back of the 37-year-old’s big-money move to the Middle East. You can watch the footage below.

The clip captured Morgan asking Ronaldo about his future plans, and whether a big money move would be on his agenda.

Morgan said: “Is it also that you want to keep playing at the highest level, you want to keep breaking records, play in the Champions League. If it was just about money, you would be in Saudi Arabia earning the king’s ransom, but that’s not what motivates you.”

Ronaldo replied: “Exactly, because I still believe that I can score many many goals and help the team. I believe I am still good enough to help my national team, even Manchester United.”

Fans were quick to react to Ronaldo’s quotes.

One said: “It’s crazy how that interview actually ruined his career. He thought it was gonna save him.”

Another tweeted: “Everything he said in the video, the opposite of it happened.”

A third fan added: “Life comes at you fast.”

Someone else wrote: “Piers Morgan ruined him. He should’ve never sat down and done an interview with him.”

Upon signing for Al-Nassr, Ronaldo said, as per Fabrizio Romano: “I’m thrilled for a new experience in a different league and a different country, the vision that Al-Nassr has is very inspiring.

“I’m very excited to join my teammates, and to help the team to achieve more success.”
