Chelsea fan filmed trying to 'take on' the entire Southampton end at Stamford Bridge, their response was brutal

Chelsea fan filmed trying to 'take on' the entire Southampton end at Stamford Bridge, their response was brutal

Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by the Premier League's basement side on Saturday.

A Chelsea fan has gone viral for allegedly attempting to 'take on' the Southampton away end during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

James Ward-Prowse whipped in a wicked free-kick in the first half to give the visitors, who sit bottom of the Premier League and without a permanent manager, their fifth win of the season.

Pressure continues to mount on Blues boss Graham Potter, who has one win in 2023 despite massive backing from owner Todd Boehly in the January transfer window.

Chelsea are currently 10th, 11 points off the top four and they're 1-0 down in their Champions League round of 16 tie with Borussia Dortmund.

Safe to say things are tense among the fanbase. One man couldn't take the heckling from the Saints' strong away support any longer.

Southampton fans were heckling the man then started to sing: "He's going to cry in a minute, cry in a minute, he's going to cry in a minute."

The individual, who used some colourful language of his own in the video above, clapped his hands together and told them to bring it.

A steward drifted into frame to ensure things didn't escalate too far. It all seemed to be fun and games for the Southampton fans at least.

Chelsea registered a whopping 17 shots but thanks to some poor finishing and heroic Southampton defending, the away side moved within three points of safety.

Potter defiantly claimed he was 'not the problem' in his post-match press conference despite being booed at full-time.

He said: "After a 1-0 defeat at home, any criticism you get is understandable. We've had a tough period and lots of challenges in terms of integrating young players in the Premier League.

"When you don't get results, it can be tough. That's how it is. Some people will think I'm the problem. I don't think they're right but that doesn't mean they can't articulate their views.

"We took a step back in terms of our performance in the first half. The response in the second half was good but not good enough."

Potter continued: "I always come in and speak to you guys and understand the questions. When we've lost 1-0 at home to Southampton, it isn't good enough because of the results we've had recently."
