Chelsea fans fume on social media as Graham Potter films 'cringey' Ted Lasso skit

Chelsea fans are fuming at a video on social media of Graham Potter doing a 'cringey' Ted Lasso skit.

Hit TV series Ted Lasso is currently in its third season. It sees fictional American coach Lasso move to Premier League strugglers AFC Richmond.

One of the show's other main characters is Roy Kent, who left Chelsea to join Richmond.

And ahead of Kent returning to Stamford Bridge (fictionally, of course), the Blues have uploaded a clip of their real manager, Potter, talking up the reunion.

But the footage of Potter discussing Kent's return has not gone down well among their fanbase online.

One Twitter user wrote: "Now I see why Tuchel was sacked. No way he’s doing this."

A second tweeted: "When we get relegated but Graham Potter wins an Emmy for best supporting actor."

A third argued: "The fact people are actually getting upset about this is amazing to me. People can’t just enjoy life, they have to be incredibly pessimistic and upset."

A fourth said: "Can Graham focus on trying to beat relegation threatened teams, please?!"

Another joked: "Ted lasso would do a better job at running Chelsea."

Potter wasn't the only Chelsea personnel to get involved in Ted Lasso promotion as Ruben Loftus-Cheek also spoke about Kent's return.

Again, Chelsea fans didn't see the funny side.

One said: "God it's so cringe."

A second wrote: "We used to be a serious club."

Another tweeted: "Please don‘t get involved we‘re 10th."

The backlash comes because of Chelsea's dire league position. They're languishing in 10th place, a massive 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham.

Before their 2-2 draw against Everton last weekend, Potter's side had reeled off three wins in a row, having lost three consecutive games.

Despite Chelsea's underwhelming season, they could still bag a trophy in the shape of the Champions League.
