Chelsea's Goal of the Month competition has got everyone saying the same thing

Chelsea's Goal of the Month competition has got everyone saying the same thing

It's been a tough few weeks for Graham Potter's team and there isn't much choice for the monthly competition right now.

Chelsea's poor form certainly isn't looking great for Graham Potter, and fans are worried that their Goal of the Month competition is going to be very depressing.

Another poor result for the Blues at the weekend see them lose to bottom placed Southampton for the second time this season, meaning their responsible for a third of the Saints' entire points for the campaign.

It was the fourth game in a row that Potter's side had failed to earn three points, as well as losing their Champions League meeting with Borussia Dortmund in midweek.

They remain as many points from the top four, and a place amongst Europe's elite next season, as they do the relegation zone, and a place in the Championship.

The loss to managerless Southampton left some claiming that Potter, who only took the job in September, is already the club's worst ever manager.

Potter, the players and the fans will all be desperate for an upturn in fortunes when they face rivals Tottenham Hotspur next weekend, and there's more than just points they need.

If no one scores for Chelsea then the winner of their 'Goal of the Month' competition will be Joao Felix, as they've only scored once in February so far!

"Nah we’re actually finished. We’ve scored 23 goals in 23 league games," one fan said.

Another took it further, adding, "We are so dusted, most embarrassing club in league bar none. Worst team to watch - possible in world football."

One fan saw the positive side of the news, replying, "At least we don’t need a committee to pick the goal of the month."

In an existential crisis, a fourth fan tweeted, "This is both sad and funny. I don’t know how to feel anymore!"

After their transfer splurges last summer and in January, another joked, "Chelsea have celebrated more player signings than actual Wins this season," although is it a 'joke,' when it's true.

Fortunately the men's team could actually be saved by the Women's side, with Laura James, sister of Reece, nominated for the WSL's award for February.

Felix's goal for Potter's side came in the draw with West Ham, and whilst it was a good strike it didn't even earn them three points.

Aside from that, they've drawn 0-0 with Fulham and then lost to Dortmund and Southampton, making Spurs their only chance for a win.

Some have called for the manager to be sacked following the poor form, whilst others want him to be given more time, like Mikel Arteta was afforded at Arsenal.

The Gunners' boss went through a similar spell at the Emirates Stadium, when his side failed to score a goal in August 2021, leading to some brutal mocking of the north London club.
