Chelsea could net £10 million this summer thanks to Arsenal transfer plan

The Blues own summer could be boosted by things out of their control, with Arsenal one of the clubs who could help them out.

Chelsea could be helped out with their attempts to pass Financial Fair Play rules, thanks to Arsenal's transfer plans this summer.

It's been a pretty expensive first year as Chelsea owner for Todd Boehly, having spent around £600 million across the summer and January transfer windows.

One has to wonder if Boehly has had the moment where you look in your banking app and wonder where all your money has gone, considering the terrible return he's had on those players this season.

It's gone so badly wrong that the American tried to reassure fans they'd get things right going forward, but all he did was scare them even more.

Boehly is said to have stormed into the changing room after a defeat to Brighton, laying into the players and calling them embarrassing.

He was being praised earlier in the year, when the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk joined the team on long term deals, with fans praising his ability to spread the cost of players with long contracts thanks to amortisation.

However, those players aren't all that happy with their deals, according to reports, and they also won't necessarily stop them from FFP.

The Stamford Bridge side are likely to have to sell some of their players this summer, especially if they want to generate funds for the new manager to bring in yet more players.

They could be helped a little bit by Arsenal however, with the Gunners said to be interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer.

According to the Sun, Chelsea retain a 10% sell on clause for the centre back, from his £18 million move to Selhurst Park in 2021.

Despite the Gunners' brilliant season, there has been questions about their strength in depth, with centre back being one of the problem positions.

Behind the first choice pair of William Saliba and Gabriel, Rob Holding has been heavily criticised when filling in, so Mikel Arteta brought in Jakub Kiwior in January, but the Polish defender is expected to need more time to bed in than first hoped.

Palace are said to be asking for £50 million for Guehi this summer, which would make Chelsea a lovely £10 million extra profit on a former academy prospect.

North London is a strong option for the England international, with Tottenham Hotspur also said to be interested in the defender.

And if he fancies a move much further north then he could end up at Old Trafford, with Manchester United also holding an interest.
