Nine players could leave Stamford Bridge as Chelsea prepare for mass exodus

Nine players could leave Stamford Bridge as Chelsea prepare for mass exodus

Chelsea are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window

Chelsea are reportedly ready to part ways with as many as nine first-team players in the summer transfer window.

Since American businessman Todd Boehly took charge of the Stamford Bridge club last year, he has been splashing the cash in a bid to rebuild the Chelsea squad.

To date, Boehly has spent £600 million on 17 new players, and with the summer transfer window approaching, Chelsea are set to trim their huge squad.

According to the Daily Mirror, as many as nine players are facing an uncertain future at the club.

England trio Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus Cheek could be offloaded as Chelsea look to balance the books to adhere to Financial Fair Play rules.

Over the last few weeks, Mount has been linked with a move to Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Liverpool, who are set to bring in fresh faces in the summer.

Another player reportedly facing the axe is French midfielder N’Golo Kante, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the 22/23 season and he is yet to agree on a new deal with the club.

Fellow midfielder Mateo Kovacic could also be sold, the 28-year-old will be in the final year of his contract and Chelsea could decide to cash in on the Croatian.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is certain to leave the club after falling down the pecking order, having only scored once in 13 Premier League appearances.

Morrocan winger Hakim Ziyech is also believed to be certain to seek a move elsewhere after finding his opportunities limited.

There are doubts over American Christian Pulisic’s future, the winger has struggled to nail down a place in the starting eleven and could leave in the summer.

Whilst a decision on Romelu Lukaku has to be made, the Belgian is currently on loan at Inter Milan but staying with Chelsea seems unlikely.

Overall, it has been a torrid season for Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel was sacked in September and his successor Graham Potter was dismissed this month.

Now, it is the job of club legend Frank Lampard to steady the ship for the remainder of the season.
