Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling insisted that “everyone” can see that Arsenal are playing “beautiful” football this season.

The Blues take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and the England winger recognised it will be a difficult test for his Chelsea side.

The Gunners have been mesmeric this season and sit top of the Premier League after 12 games, while Chelsea have endured a more difficult start.

The Blues’ early season form cost manager Thomas Tuchel his job, and though the club have since shown signs of resurgence under new boss Graham Potter, they were battered 4-1 by Brighton in their last outing.

When Sterling and Arsenal legend Ian Wright sat down to discuss Sunday’s fixture, the Chelsea man was full of praise for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Speaking to Premier League Productions Sterling said: “Everyone in the public can see that they have had a great start to the season.

“They are playing some beautiful stuff. They are a team that have been building for a few years now.

“That’s what we are looking to do, to keep building and it’s a game that will be a really interesting one.

“They are a possession-dominant team, and so are we ourselves. I think it will be a good match.”

Sterling, who has historically netted eight times against Arsenal, added: “It’s a team I always score against? It’s a team where I can hopefully break this duck against.

“Nah, I am joking. The way they are playing. They are playing beautiful stuff.

“Mikel (Arteta) has got them playing some free-flowing football, that’s for sure.”

Chelsea are currently sixth place, three points adrift of Newcastle United in the Champions League places.

Potter’s side will be looking to bounce back from their dismal Brighton display and continue their charge for the top four spots.

Meanwhile, if Arsenal can secure all three points, as they have done on ten occasions this term, it would be another step forward in their youthful, ever-progressing side’s unlikely hunt for the title.
