Raheem Sterling ‘Wanted’ By Eight Clubs Including Shock Premier League Move

Raheem Sterling was banished from Chelsea but has attracted interest from a number of clubs ahead of the transfer deadline.

Raheem Sterling is reportedly attracting interest from eight clubs after his Chelsea nightmare finally came to an end.

Sterling signed for the Blues from Manchester City in 2022 but made just 81 appearances and after returning from an underwhelming loan spell at Arsenal, found himself surplus to requirements.

Not only that, Sterling was placed in the ‘bomb squad’ by previous manager Enzo Maresca and made to train by himself.

Sterling was expected to leave in the summer and reportedly had offers from European clubs, including Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen.

But he did not want to move abroad and no such move materialised. While fellow bomb squad member Axel Disasi managed to work his way back into first-team training under Liam Rosenior, Sterling remained in solo training for a period before he and Chelsea finally came to an mutual agreement that allowed him to leave immediately.

Earlier this week, the club confirmed that his contract had been terminated ahead of it being due to expire in 2027.

“Raheem Sterling has today departed Chelsea Football Club by mutual agreement, bringing to an end three-and-a-half seasons as our player, having signed in the summer of 2022 when he was transferred from Manchester City,” a short statement on Chelsea's website read.

“We thank Raheem for the contribution he made while a Chelsea player and wish him well for the next stage in his career.”

Raheem Sterling betting odds as interested clubs revealed

With Betfair, Fulham and West Ham are the joint=favourites to sign Sterling - with odds of 6/4, Spurs are next up in the race at 4/, with Crystal Palace and Napoi following at 9/2 to sign Sterling before 3 February.

The decision to cut ties prematurely means Sterling has become a free agent and is able to move clubs outside of the transfer window.

And according to the Daily Mail, Sterling could be on the move imminently as eight clubs are keeping tabs over a possible deal.

Spurs are one of the leading clubs and feel a new forward is necessary given recent injuries and the lack of form from some of their current stars.

Juventus are still understood to have interest in the three-time Premier League winner, as do Serie A champions Napoli - where his former City teammate Kevin De Bruyne is playing.

As per the BBC in their gossip column, Premier League struggles Burnley are also keen and could allow Sterling to reunite with another ex City colleague in Kyle Walker.

Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports claims that Sterling wants a fresh start and his representatives held talks with |seven Champions League level clubs".

Sterling may take some time to get up to match fitness, however, as his last Premier League start was more 250 days ago for Arsenal against Southampton.

The England international is said to be content with a much lower salary than the £325,000 salary he was on at Chelsea and merely wants to resume his playing career in a new environment.
