Fans are loving Casemiro owning Gavi in breathtaking Barca vs Man United clash

Former Real Madrid man Casemiro was involved in a moment with Barca star Gavi in a pulsating game at the Nou Camp.

Fans loved Casemiro owning Gavi during Manchester United's breathtaking 2-2 draw with Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

The former Real Madrid man, along with Raphael Varane was loudly booed by Barca fans before the game and whenever he got on the ball in the contest.

But he got the better of Gavi in one particular duel in the second half and United supporters, as well as though who follow Real, lapped it up.

In the full sequence, Casemiro dispossessed the pint-sized 18-year-old inside the penalty area and then performed a lovely turn.

He played the ball off the Spaniard to win a goal-kick and then stared out Gavi as he walked into him. Casemiro proceeded to bump chests with Varane, who was delighted with a brilliant bit of defensive play.

It garnered a whole lot of reaction on social media, with fans not getting enough of Casemiro's antics.

One wrote: "That felt a bit WWE from Casemiro standing there to take the heckles after playing it out off Gavi."

A second said: "As a Madrid fan Casemiro staring down Gavi like that did something to me I can’t describe!"

A third added: "He was like: 'Know your place kiddo'."

A fourth tweeted: "Casemiro really just stared at Gavi after he bumped into him."

A fifth joked: "Casemiro’s look towards Gavi sent my out my chair."

United were winning 2-1 at the time after responding to Marcos Alonso's opener with a strike from Marcus Rashford and an own goal from Jules Kounde.

But minutes later Raphinha's cross went all the way in and led to the spoils been shared in the Europa League play-off first leg.

Gavi, meanwhile, hit headlines for beating United's 6ft 6 striker Wout Weghorst in the air as they contested a duel 11 minutes into the encounter.

He won't be mixing it up against United in the second leg, however, after picking up a yellow card in the second half.

The Blaugrana could also be without Gavi's partner in crime Pedri as the midfielder went off early on with a thigh problem.

Casemiro returned to the side after missing United's last two fixtures in the Premier League due to his red card shown against Crystal Palace.

He serves the final game of his suspension against Leicester City on Sunday.
