Harry Kane confirms how much German he knows and reveals he'll have lessons

Harry Kane plans to have German lessons following his move to Bayern Munich.

Harry Kane has confirmed how much German he actually knows following his blockbuster transfer to Bayern Munich.

Kane made his Bayern debut on Saturday in the DFL Cup final after completing his £100 transfer from Tottenham.

However, he failed to win a trophy in his first game for the club as RB Leipzig stunned the Bundesliga champions with a 3-0 victory at the Allianz Arena.

The England captain entered the fray just after the hour mark but was unable to make a great impression as Bayern lost to Leipzig.

His first appearance for his new team will be remembered for his awkward exchange with the match referee.

Kane remonstrated the official's decision to award a penalty in the second-half yet couldn't argue his case due to the language barrier.

How much German does he speak? Well, he knows one word but plans to learn the language, revealing he wants to embrace the culture and country.

"Just one word - Servus (hello)," he said when asked how much German he knows.

"I'll have German lessons at least once or twice a week. I want to fit in as much as possible and learning the language is important and I'm willing to try.

"Of course I'm going to try and learn German, I want to try and embrace the culture, embrace the country so I'll be having lessons to try and pick that it up."

Kane added: "We have a lot of English speaking players and staff around the club so that helps me but I want to fit in as much as possible and the best way to do that is by understanding the language

"It will be tough, I've heard it's a tough language to learn but it's something I'm willing to try."

The 30-year-old is in line to make his Bundesliga debut next Friday when Bayern open their league campaign at Werder Bremen.
