Man Utd and Liverpool put on red alert with Bayern Munich considering 'getting rid' of five stars worth £240m

Bayern Munich are reportedly considering the sales of five players worth around £240 million - which could open the door for Manchester United and Liverpool to make major transfers.

The German giants are currently struggling in their pursuit of an 11th consecutive Bundesliga title.

They sit behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen after 22 games, despite Harry Kane's league-leading tally of 25 goals.

And Bayern announced earlier this week that head coach Thomas Tuchel will be leaving his role at the end of the season.

It is Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso that is believed to be the preferred candidate to take over, amid interest from Liverpool in replacing the outgoing Jurgen Klopp.

Whoever does take the Bayern role could have a vastly-changed squad to work with, according to German football reporter Archie Rhind-Tutt.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Rhind-Tutt revealed: "Bayern Munich are seriously considering getting rid of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies.

"They are wanting to start an upheaval."

The sale of Davies in particular - a player that is still only 23 and a key member of Bayern's side at left-back - would come as a surprise, while 29-year-old Kimmich remains an important player for the Bavarians.

But the German midfielder may be easy to move on amid reported interest from Manchester City, while there would no doubt be a host of clubs queueing up to sign Davies.

Goretzka has also been a regular starter this term, while Gnabry has spent the majority of the campaign injured.

However, former Arsenal starlet Gnabry has scored at least 10 Bundesliga goals in each of his five full seasons at Bayern, as well as valuable contributions in the Champions League.

Sane would be another surprise sale as, despite some inconsistent recent performances, has scored eight goals and assisted a further 11 in just 22 league appearances for Bayern this term.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, all five players are worth a combined value of around £240 million.

With Manchester United in particular in need of a left-back, Davies could be an ideal option amid long-term fitness concerns surrounding Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Kimmich could be an ideal replacement for Casemiro in midfield, particularly if the club want to gain more control in possession, while both Sane and Gnabry have been regularly linked with Liverpool and could give the Reds fresh impetus in attacking areas.
