Harry Kane given humiliating match rating by German media after Bayern Munich's loss to Lazio

Harry Kane given humiliating match rating by German media after Bayern Munich's loss to Lazio

Harry Kane has been slammed for his display in Bayern Munich's Champions League defeat to Lazio.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane received a humiliating match rating after the Bavarian outfit's shock Champions League defeat to Lazio.

After being beaten 3-0 by Bayer Leverkusen in a top of the table Bundesliga clash, Thomas Tuchel's side suffered a 1-0 loss at the Stadio Olimpico.

Dayot Upamecano was sent off and Ciro Immobile converted the only goal of the game from the spot in the 69th minute.

Kane has scored 28 times in 29 games since joining Bayern from Spurs in a £82 million switch.

But he was totally ineffective in Rome, where Bayern didn't have a single shot on target.

And the England captain ended up being given a brutal match rating from German newspaper BILD.

The outlet grade players from one to six - with the latter being the worst possible mark a player can get.

Kane was given a six, the same score given to Upamecano following his dismissal.

Spurs' record goalscorer was also rinsed by the publication, who wrote: "Missed a mega chance after seven minutes, but after that he couldn't connect with Bayern's attacking attempts at all. Totally signed off in the second half."

There is a genuine chance that Kane and Bayern could finish the season trophyless.

They were eliminated from the DFB Pokal by third division side Saarbrucken in November and are now five points behind Xabi Alonso's impressive Leverkusen side in the Bundesliga.

Bayern have won the title eleven years on the trot and so failure to win it this year would be a disaster.

But Kane, who many are saying is "cursing" Bayern, is not refusing to lose hope.

He told TNT Sports: "We have to find it among ourselves. We're still in the race for the Bundesliga and still in this tie. We have to keep fighting.

"We're in a difficult spell. We have to fight. We have to turn it around. We have big games and big things to fight for. We're not out of it, we will never give up. We just need to turn it around. One game or spark can turn it around."
