Kai Havertz transfer could force two Arsenal players out of the club with one star 'unsettled'

Kai Havertz transfer could force two Arsenal players out of the club with one star 'unsettled'

Havertz's move could have a domino effect.

Arsenal could sell two players this summer once Kai Havertz completes his transfer to the club from Chelsea.

The Gunners are closing in on making the Germany international their first summer signing as Mikel Arteta's side prepare to launch another Premier League title challenge.

Sky Sports have reported that Havertz will undergo a medical at the Emirates Stadium this weekend ahead of a proposed £65 million move. Once that is completed, it is said that an official announcement could be made by the club next week.

The 24-year-old has had mixed success at Chelsea after he was signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £75 million in 2020.

Having developed his reputation in Germany as an attacking midfielder who could play as a forward if required, Havertz has regularly played as a lone striker at Stamford Bridge.

He did score the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, but has scored only 19 Premier League goals across his three seasons at the Blues.

According to ESPN, Arteta believes the German can play in five different roles, which would likely give him more opportunities to play in deeper positions.

His impending signing has, however, caused Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah to become 'unsettled', The Sun claim, with the Englishman potentially moving further down the pecking order as a result.

But he is not the only Gunners player who could be affected.

Two Arsenal players could leave after Havertz deal

ESPN report that one of the positions Arteta is considering for Havertz is as a number eight, or offensive central midfielder.

He would be competing with Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard to fill that role, although it is possible that both players could feature in the same XI.

The competition between the pair could spell bad news for Fabio Vieira, however, who plays in a similar role and struggled for playing time last season after joining from Porto.

The fee for the Portuguese midfielder totalled an initial £30 million, with Arteta reportedly having pushed for the signing of the playmaker.

But Vieira was not able to make a considerable impact for the Gunners, scoring just one goal and providing two assists in 22 Premier League appearances.

Speaking to Portuguese outlet O Jogo in March, the 23-year-old admitted he found his first season in English football 'difficult' - but was confident he was reaching a position where he could contribute more effectively.

Vieira explained: "I got here injured. It's always different for a new player to get here, to a new country, a different culture, everything is different.

"It was difficult. But after a few months, I'm ready, I'm enjoying it. I've developed a lot and I'm here to help the team."
